She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 499

About ten minutes later, Camille headed to the restroom with a couple of colleagues.

She pushed the door open and saw someone inside. She was about to apologize and step back when a hand suddenly clamped over her mouth and nose.

Before she could struggle, her vision blurred and her consciousness slipped away.

The person who grabbed her was quickly joined by a woman waiting just outside.

They hastily disguised Camille and supported her out of the restroom. Carefully avoiding NovaSight Labs’s security, they made their way outside.

Just as they were about to push her into a waiting car, their path was abruptly blocked.

At that moment, Damien’s phone rang.

After a brief call, he stood up and told the executives beside him, “Something’s come up. We’ll continue this another time.”

Colin noticed his abrupt departure and quickly followed.

By the time they reached the street, the kidnappers had already been subdued.

Colin was startled to see Camille unconscious, but he quickly understood the situation.

What puzzled him was—when had Damien arranged all this?

The men outside stepped forward respectfully. “Mr. Harrington, we’ve apprehended them.”

Damien glanced at the unconscious Camille, walked over, and wordlessly lifted her into his arms.

He carried her straight to the car.

Colin paused, then hurried after them.

No sooner had Damien settled Camille in the back seat than her phone rang from her purse.

The two engineers from NovaSight Labs had grown worried when she didn’t return from the restroom.

After searching and not finding her, they immediately called.

Damien didn’t answer.

He adjusted Camille against him, then simply ended the call.

The engineers, now even more concerned, immediately contacted Gabriel.

Alarmed, Gabriel dialed Camille’s number himself.

This time, Damien answered.

“Camille, are you—” Gabriel began, but was cut off.

“She fainted. I’m taking her back to the hotel,” Damien stated flatly.

Gabriel froze. “Damien?”

“Mm.” Then he added, “I’m hanging up now.”

“You—” Gabriel tried to protest, but the line had already gone dead.

In the front seat, Colin watched the rearview mirror. Seeing Damien still holding Camille, he started to speak, but the privacy divider slowly rose, blocking his view.

Colin stared in surprise, speechless.

The hotel wasn’t far, but the drive still took about half an hour.

Damien carried Camille out.

Colin noticed her clothes were still neat, though her lipstick was slightly smudged.

It looked like she had been kissed—or perhaps it was just smeared during the struggle. He couldn’t be sure.

Without explanation, Damien took her straight upstairs. Colin had no choice but to follow.
