She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 315

Camille Hartwell, Gabriel Ashcroft, and Wesley Caldwell, the general manager of Vertex Dynamics, had a private group chat.

The day's events were so scandalous that Wesley couldn't contain his inner gossipmonger. He immediately spilled every juicy detail to them.

Neither Camille nor Gabriel cared much about how many admirers Selene Lancaster had or how obsessed they were with her.

But by afternoon, Wesley messaged again.

Mr. Harrington's daughter came to the company looking for Ms. Lancaster. When Ms. Lancaster claimed she got along well with his daughter before, most of us didn’t believe her.

But after seeing the little girl today? It’s clear—Chloe Harrington absolutely adores her.

Camille’s fingers froze over the keyboard. It wasn’t because she was upset about Chloe being close to Selene.

She had just realized—if word got out about Selene and Chloe’s relationship, there was no way to keep it from her uncle and grandmother any longer.

She’d always known this day would come eventually, but—

Gabriel glanced at her expression and immediately guessed her thoughts.

With a scoff, he said, "The only reason Chloe’s existence spread so fast is because Damien himself is influential."

"But Selene? Who is she? Just someone clinging to Damien’s coattails. Beyond Vertex Dynamics employees and her little fan club, who in high society actually cares about her relationship with his daughter?"

Then, as if struck by sudden amusement, Gabriel smirked.

"Now, if people found out you were also Graham Bellamy’s student—that the Nexa system and our company’s two major projects were your work—and that you’re actually Chloe’s biological mother? That would shake the entire social circle."

"As for Selene? A nobody trying to play stepmother? Please."

Camille remained calm about it all.

Still…

She hesitated before speaking. "Uncle Owen and Grandma Marianne have probably already guessed that Chloe is close to Selene."

"They haven’t asked me about it because they don’t want to upset me—so they’re pretending not to know."

Gabriel agreed.

He gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

"It’s good they’re mentally prepared. The fact they haven’t said anything means you’re their priority over Chloe. What matters most to them is that you’re happy."

Camille smiled faintly. "I know."

Then her thoughts shifted to the status of her divorce from Damien.

Honestly, when she’d signed the divorce papers he gave her, she’d assumed it would be finalized quickly.

She never expected it to drag on for months.

She’d asked Damien multiple times, and each time, he’d promised it would be done soon. But—

Since she knew he was more eager to finalize it than she was, she hadn’t pressed further. But now…

Decisively, she called Lucas Vaughn to check the progress.

Lucas had been handling the divorce proceedings for her weekly. Hearing her inquiry, he replied, "Tomorrow is my scheduled call with Mr. Harrington’s lawyer. I’ll update you as soon as I get a response."

"Alright," Camille said. Then, calmly, she added, "If they give the same vague answer again, tell his lawyer I’m willing to walk away with nothing."

"I don’t want a single thing Damien has given me. He can draft a new agreement immediately—I’ll sign it."
