Chapter 241

Camille had just pulled away from the hospital when Marianne suddenly remembered something. Damien made it to see Helena, but what about Chloe? Where was she?

Before Camille could respond, Marianne's face darkened immediately.

The disapproval was written all over her grandmother's expression - clearly unhappy that Damien had left Chloe behind while bringing Selene to visit Helena.

"Don't worry," Camille reassured her. "He'll take care of her."

Marianne wasn't convinced. "If this continues, Cami, take him to court. No matter what, you must get custody of Chloe!"

Camille hesitated briefly before responding softly, "Okay."

Marianne's displeasure lingered.

They arrived at the Hartwell residence and Marianne exited the car without another word.

Just then, Camille's phone buzzed.

Chloe was calling, but she let it ring.

Perhaps because she hadn't spent much time with Chloe these past months and had been missing her calls, but recently she could clearly feel her daughter becoming more attached - just like when it had been just the two of them.

The phone rang again.

After a quick glance, she still didn't answer. She simply powered it off and joined her family for dinner.

But as soon as she sat down, the house phone rang.

Camille knew exactly who it was.

"I'll get it."

She rose before anyone else could react and went to the living room.

As expected, Chloe's cheerful voice came through the line. "Mommy!"

Camille hummed in response. "Have you eaten yet?"

"No." Chloe sounded dejected. "Are you at Grandma's house? I want to come too. Will you have dinner with me?"

Marianne looked over. "Is that Chloe?"

Camille sighed inwardly. "Yes."

"Does she want to see you?" Marianne set down her fork and approached. "If she wants to come, call Damien and have someone bring her. We'll save food for her."

"Alright." Then into the phone, "You can come now."

"Okay!"

Before hanging up, Camille added, "Make sure you tell your father first."

"Okay."

They wanted to wait for Chloe before continuing dinner, but Camille insisted they start without her.

About an hour later, Chloe arrived.

She ran straight to Camille the moment she entered. "Mommy! I'm here!"

Camille straightened Chloe's dress. "I'll warm up your food."

"Okay!"

Chloe put away her backpack and tablet, following Camille into the kitchen.

Owen and Talia had taken Noah to school while Marianne stayed home.

Watching Chloe shadow Camille's every move, Marianne smiled warmly and left them to their bonding time.

Camille told Chloe to wait at the table.

Chloe sat patiently while Camille reheated the food.

Normally a picky eater who hated leftovers, today Chloe ate everything without complaint.

Between bites, she chatted excitedly. "Mommy, I went out with Mr. Rutherford and Iris today."
