She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 187

After finalizing the discussion about Selene's proposal, Camille turned to Gabriel. "What about Harrington Group's offer?"

Gabriel adjusted his glasses with a faint smile. "Damien operates in our industry. His technical expertise is unparalleled."

The financial strength of Harrington Group was undeniable.

Their tech team consisted of the most brilliant minds in the field.

Damien himself was a recognized authority in the industry.

The proposal he submitted wasn't just impressive—it redefined excellence.

Perhaps that explained his calm demeanor in waiting until now to propose this partnership.

Camille wasn't surprised by this revelation.

"Make the decision based purely on merit," she advised.

Partnering with an elite team eliminated countless potential headaches.

Whatever history existed between her and Damien paled in comparison to the project's importance.

Everett Mercer arrived at NovaSight Labs that afternoon.

This time, Gabriel didn't bother meeting him personally.

When Everett failed to secure an audience, he departed without ceremony.

Then Tristan Rutherford arrived.

Both Gabriel and Camille went to greet him together.

As they reviewed Tristan's revised proposal, their eyes met in silent agreement.

Recognizing their aligned thoughts, Camille extended her hand. "Let's make this a successful partnership, Mr. Rutherford."

Tristan noticed Camille held final authority at NovaSight Labs. His gaze flickered between her and Gabriel before shaking both their hands. "Looking forward to it. This collaboration shows great promise."

They immediately delved into contract negotiations.

As twilight approached, they'd nearly finalized initial terms when Camille's phone rang.

Chloe's name flashed twice consecutively on the screen.

Camille dismissed both calls, and Chloe didn't attempt a third.

Damien, however, answered when Chloe called him.

He returned home within thirty minutes.

Chloe lay in bed receiving IV treatment, her complexion pale. Seeing Damien, she mustered just enough strength to whisper, "Daddy..."

Damien took a seat beside her. Noticing the sheen of sweat on her forehead, he carefully wiped it with his handkerchief. "Still feeling sick?"

"A little..."

Though the pain remained considerable.

Instead of scolding her for poor dietary choices, Damien recognized her melancholy. "Should I ask Selene to visit?" he offered.

Normally she would have agreed instantly.

But this time, Chloe clutched his fingers, shaking her head weakly. "I want Mommy."

Despite her affection for Selene, when unwell, she instinctively sought her mother's presence.

More than anything, she wanted Camille by her side now.

"Alright," Damien agreed.

Letting Chloe hold his hand, he called Camille with his free one.

Camille had just concluded contract discussions with Tristan and was preparing for dinner.

Seeing Damien's call after ignoring Chloe's earlier attempts gave her pause before answering. "Yes?"

"Chloe has mild food poisoning," Damien explained. "She's on IV at home and asking for you."

Camille's grip tightened on her phone. "Understood. I'm leaving now."

Hanging up, she turned to Tristan. "Apologies, an urgent matter requires my attention. We'll reschedule dinner."

Noticing her sudden tension, Tristan inquired, "Is Chloe unwell?"

Camille nodded.

"Serious condition?"

Damien hadn't elaborated, leaving Camille uncertain. "She should be stable now."
