She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 106

Camille spotted Chloe heading out with her suitcase. "Mom?"

"Hmm?" Camille snapped out of her thoughts, shutting the door behind her. "Work calls. I'm leaving first. Stay here with your father."

Chloe nodded eagerly. "Got it, Mom."

Dragging her luggage downstairs, Camille nearly collided with Damien and Selene in the lobby.

Seeing her departure, Damien simply asked, "Leaving?"

"Yes." Her reply was ice-cold.

"Did you arrange transportation?"

"I did."

He made no move to stop her. "Very well."

Without another word, Camille exited the building and disappeared into a waiting car.

Arlo woke unusually early that day.

At lunch with Damien and the others, he suggested, "Why don't you invite her down?" Clearly referring to Camille.

Damien remained impassive. "No need. She's already gone."

Arlo's eyebrows shot up. "Gone?"

Tristan paused mid-bite.

"Work commitments," Damien explained, knowing full well about Gabriel rejecting Selene because of Camille's position at NovaSight Labs.

Arlo remembered Damien's excuse last night about Camille being too busy for dinner. He chuckled darkly. "Busy yesterday, busy today—how convenient."

As if NovaSight Labs would collapse without her.

Everyone knew she'd gotten the position through connections. Neither particularly competent nor a major shareholder.

Such a transparent excuse. Pathetic, really. Arlo couldn't even muster a response.

Selene caught the implication, lowering her head to hide her smirk.

Meanwhile, Camille worked tirelessly at NovaSight Labs until nightfall.

After two exhausting days, she finally prepared to leave when her uncle Owen called.

Thirty minutes later, she arrived at the Hartwell residence.

Owen and his wife Talia were there with their sons Noah and Isaac.

Camille greeted them warmly.

Isaac asked, "Where's Chloe? Didn't you say she's back? Why isn't she joining us?"

"She's still at the hot springs."

Assuming Chloe was with Damien, Isaac didn't press further.

Before entering, Camille's gaze lingered on the villa across the street.

If only she'd brought the keys from her hot springs trip. She could've begun erasing all traces of the Lancaster family and started renovations...

Owen and Talia had been planning Marianne's birthday celebration.

They'd summoned Camille not just for input, but with a specific task.

"These invitations are for the Harringtons and Selene," Owen said. "Make time to deliver them this week."

Camille hesitated before accepting. "Understood."

After dinner, she chatted with Marianne and Owen until nine.

As she prepared to leave, Marianne escorted her out, squeezing her hand. "If the Harringtons decline, don't insist. Their presence means nothing to me!"
