Reborn in 1985: Taking Back My Life
Chapter 379: Adrian Stone Commanded in a Low Voice
"Everyone, evacuate immediately!" Adrian Stone commanded in a low voice, his gaze sweeping over each soldier's face.
Elena Ward had already knelt beside Eric Lewis, silver needles glinting coldly between her fingers. She tore open his bloodstained military uniform, revealing the horrifying wound beneath.
The cave was eerily silent, with only Adrian's steady breathing echoing in the air. He knelt on one knee beside Elena, his intense eyes fixed on her.
Elena bit her lip. That fleeting sensation couldn't have been wrong—Adrian indeed possessed some power that could alleviate the side effects of her healing force. Though the reason remained unclear, saving lives took priority now.
She abruptly grabbed Adrian's hand. His large palm immediately closed around hers, warmth spreading from their intertwined fingers.
"Beginning now," Elena murmured.
The moment the needles pierced the acupuncture points, an unprecedented surge of energy erupted from within her. This time, her ability carried an almost domineering force, startling even herself.
Both of them turned their attention to Eric.
His pallid complexion gradually regained color, his chest rising and falling steadily. Most astonishingly, the wound on his abdomen began healing at a visible rate!
Elena's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly released Adrian's hand. No—if this continued, the wound would fully close, making it impossible to explain!
As expected, the moment their connection broke, the healing slowed. But strangely, this time, she only felt a faint chill instead of the usual bone-piercing cold.
"Adrian, call Dr. Alice for sutures," Elena said without looking up. "If we work together, we can save him."
Adrian studied her deeply. "Don't push yourself." Those four simple words sent a tremor through her heart.
He had noticed.
Dr. Alice Monroe rushed over, her eyes widening in shock at Eric's condition. "Good heavens! Dr. Ward, your acupuncture—"
"No time for chatter. Sutures, now," Elena cut her off. "I'll handle anesthesia."
Alice sprang into action—disinfecting, threading needles, stitching—her movements fluid from months of frontline experience.
As the needles moved between pressure points, Elena could sense Eric's vitals stabilizing. When the final stitch was tied, she finally exhaled in relief.
"Change the dressings on schedule. He'll recover," she said, withdrawing the needles, her fingertips trembling slightly.
Adrian reached out to steady her shoulder, his warmth seeping into her again. Elena looked up, meeting his profound gaze, and her heartbeat stuttered.
What unknown connection existed between them?
