Reborn in 1985: Taking Back My Life

Chapter 360: Elena Ward's Silver Needles Had Gained Quite a Reputation

Elena Ward's silver needles had gained quite a reputation in the camp. Chronic ailments like rheumatism and gastritis found relief under her care. With medical supplies running low, her acupuncture skills shone even brighter.

Since their brief encounter with Adrian Stone, they hadn't crossed paths again. The fierce battles in the highlands kept medics strictly away from the frontlines. Wounded soldiers were carried back through gunfire by brave transporters.

The morning rain had poured relentlessly all night. The damp air clung thick and suffocating, especially unbearable for the northern girls.

"Dr. Ward! Dr. Ward!" A frantic voice called outside the tent, thick with local dialect.

Elena lifted the tent flap. A man in a mud-stained yellow coat stood in the rain, his face beneath the bamboo hat etched with desperation. Two soldiers flanked him—clearly his escorts.

"I'm Dr. Ward. What's wrong?" Elena asked. She was the only Ward in camp; no chance of mistaken identity.

"Doctor, please save my wife!" The man dropped to his knees in the mud. "The midwife says it's a difficult birth—both mother and child are at risk!"

Elena hurried to pull him up. How many villagers had knelt before her now? Such gestures weighed heavily on her.

Female medics rushed out, helping the man to his feet.

"Take it easy, sir. Just tell us what happened," one soothed.

The man stamped his foot. "There's no time, Doctor! My wife can't wait!"

Elena gripped his shoulder. "Explain the situation clearly so we can prepare."

Between stammers, he managed: "She's been... laboring for two days... The baby's positioned wrong... Now she's bleeding badly..."

Elena turned to Dr. Green immediately. "You're the OB-GYN specialist. This is your call."

Dr. Green frowned. "But we ran out of anesthesia the day before yesterday. The resupply hasn't arrived..."
