After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back
Chapter 392: Derek Romano Studied the Three Unfamiliar Faces
Derek Romano studied the three unfamiliar faces before him, recognizing them as Professor Miriam Caldwell's newly recruited graduate students.
"Can I help you?" He set down his lab notebook.
Noah Kessler took a step forward. "Do you conduct all your experiments in this lab, Senior Derek?"
"Mostly. Specialized equipment requires other facilities."
Clara Whitmore cut straight to the chase. "Did you reserve Lab C122?"
"C122?" Derek's brow furrowed slightly.
"Your research doesn't require CPRT Analyzers." Clara's gaze sharpened.
Derek adjusted his cufflinks before meeting her eyes again. "I did borrow it."
The two exchanged glances.
"Experimental necessity. Any problem?"
Clara pressed further. "Why has the lab remained empty?"
"Occasional usage."
Maya Torres unclenched her fists. The explanation was airtight.
"How long will you need it?"
"Depends on research progress."
"Understood." Clara turned to signal their departure.
Derek watched their retreating figures with a grave expression. After packing his equipment, he headed straight for the administration building.
The door to Professor Lenora Voss's office stood slightly ajar.
"Why does Derek get the National Scholarship?" Avery Quinn's shrill voice pierced the air.
"He has tangible research achievements. What do you have?" Lenora's tone turned glacial.
"My paper—"
"Shall I explain how you obtained it?"
Avery immediately softened. "Aunt Lenora, I just wanted to bring honor to our family..."
"Next year."
"I knew you'd side with me!"
"Maintain decorum."
A knock interrupted them.
Derek entered expressionlessly. Lenora instantly brightened. "Derek! Please sit."
Avery reluctantly scooted aside.
"No need." Derek remained standing.
Lenora smiled warmly. "What brings you here?"
