After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back
Chapter 104: Clara Couldn't Comprehend It
Clara couldn't comprehend it.
Did he think this was some twisted way of "remaining faithful" to her?
Absolutely ridiculous!
In the hotel room—
Grant turned off all the lights, forcing himself to sleep.
But the moment he closed his eyes, images of Clara laughing with Connor on the beach flooded his mind.
Their carefree laughter stabbed at his temples like needles.
He tossed and turned all night until dawn.
In the morning restaurant—
Paige clung to his arm, cautiously studying his expression.
The elevator doors opened, revealing Connor's long strides.
Their gazes collided midair, tension crackling between them.
Just then—
Clara and Sloane entered through the side door.
Connor immediately brightened. "Good morning. Sleep well?"
His familiar tone suggested years of friendship.
But Grant detected nothing but calculation.
Sloane nodded casually. "Decent."
Clara rubbed her arm. "Just too many mosquitoes."
Connor gestured invitingly. "Join me?"
Sloane agreed readily. "Sure."
The trio walked in together, laughing, completely oblivious to Grant in the corner.
His expression darkened instantly.
As he moved to intercept them, Connor suddenly stopped. "Forgot something. Go ahead without me."
Once they were out of earshot, Connor turned toward Grant.
"What's your game?" Grant demanded coldly.
Connor lowered his voice. "Follow me."
He strode toward the emergency exit without waiting for a response.
Though irritated, Grant followed.
Meanwhile—
Sloane nudged Clara. "You're acting different around Connor today."
Clara frowned. "Nonsense."
"Don't play dumb," Sloane teased. "You're usually ice-cold with admirers."
Clara shoved a piece of fruit into her mouth. "He just did me a favor."
In the emergency stairwell—
Connor got straight to the point. "My legal team's preparing to sue the hotel."
Grant scoffed. "Here to gloat?"
"Don't you find yesterday's incident suspicious?" Connor said meaningfully.
Grant's gaze sharpened. "Explain."
"The shark appeared at a very convenient time," Connor met his eyes. "But someone erased all traces of human interference."
Grant sneered. "Stop trying to sow discord."
